The backlit keys are highly visible in all lighting conditions, and when you are typing on the keyboard, light leakage around the keys is minimal. Key presses are very smooth, with only a light touch needed to trigger a key. Audible feedback is minimal, with only a small click with each full press.

The large touchpad is easy to use, with a matte textured Synaptics interface. Sensitivity was great, easily tracking my finger with no discernible lag.

Synaptics Touchpad and Touchscreen, not working on Gateway laptop. - Microsoft Community

The surface area is greater than most Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad, but still falls short to the gigantic touchpad surfaces found on Apple notebooks. The buttons are large and easy to hit with the side of your thumb, and give a mild soft click with shallow feedback. Refresh the page and there should be an option to install it.

Search "Elan Input Device". Press the "Last Update" column header. It should now be sorted by the most recent release.

Gateway X Laptop Review (pics, specs)

Check inside the popup if the architecture is for AMD64 bit or x86 bit. The reason I ignored the top Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad results is because they are exclusively for Toshiba pcs. Gaming and Performance For many gaming notebook reviews, I tend to spoil myself with a day just dedicated to gaming and fooling around in general. With settings maxed and Anti-Aliasing set to 2x, the notebook stayed between 54 and 60FPS during most scenes. I did see drops down into the 30FPS Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad while looking through portals though.

Crysis Crysis being the performance resource hog that it is, did not perform well on this decently equipped gaming notebook. This was not a constant speed though, as many action areas brought the framerate into single digit levels.

The casing is a matte silver color and the back of the screen is adorned in the center with the three sided Gateway blob logo in shiny chrome. The notebook has a sturdy feel to it, although it should be noted that after handling the device, it will be noticed that the casing is most definitely plastic, even though its initial appearance would make you think it was cast in a brushed aluminum or other metallic Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad. The screen hinges have a nice smooth feel to the action, and feel solid when being opened and closed.

Inside, the notebook is decidedly less sleek and sexy but is well laid out in a dark elephant hide colored gray plastic. There is ample room on the palm rest for even the biggest of hands, and the interface is generally uncluttered, with only a chrome power button and 4 small hotkeys in a row across Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad top of the keyboard under the screen and a row of LED icons above that which light up for hard drive access, optical drive access, caps lock, scroll lock and pad lock numeric keypad enabled. Unlike many notebooks nowadays, this machine opts for a less cluttered interior, lacking interface widgets and gee-gaws, which I for one appreciate.

My last notebook was a Sony Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad, and while the Vaio series has slightly better LCDs in terms of brightness and glare reduction, Gateways offering is very pleasant to look at.

If you have been using a notebook with XGA resolution, then the screen will be the first thing you notice on the X. The resolution, coupled with the 15 LCD make for a combination that is easy to read, and a pleasure to look at. Music files do sound great through the headphone jack, and the X also comes equipped with an Gateway S-7500 Synaptics Touchpad line in jack for making recordings from external sources. Free Download Gateway EM Synaptics Touchpad Driver Integrated 4 MB level 2 cache (T, T, T) One - S-Video.
