Notify me of new posts via email. There needs to be a way to set a network to either have no default printer, or when removed to stay removed unless it is manually re-added. More importantly, the default printer indicator in Devices and Printers does not change when I connect to different networks.
When I go to Manage default printers, it correctly shows which network I'm connected to and which printer is supposed to be default, but this is not reflected in the main window. It's not clear if it's just the indicator that isn't being updated or if the actual default priner isn't being updated. I've got conflicting results when printing from different applications. But it's definitely not working as it should.
Also, this concept needs to be added to wired network adapter settings. I have several instances of different networks that require static IP and DNS configurations but only 1 static set of parameters can be entered into the adapter. There needs to be a way to save multiple profiles for different networks then select among them in the network control panel or directly from the network notificaiton icon.

There should also be an easier way to set up precidents of different network cards, VPNs, etc. It's quite hidden and unless you know it's there you probably won't find it. In particular, if a gigabit ethernet connection is available, it's easy to have both a gigabit and wireless conenction to the same network.
So there should be an easy way to tell Windows I want to use the faster gigabit connection. Even better might be if Windows 7 had a way to automatically choose the fastest active connection to the network, whichever that may be.
EVEN better is if it could automatically bridge multiple connections to the same network to increase the overall bandwidth. Surprising limitation, isn't it?

One set per adapter, that's all you get. Good idea! I hope I have posted this correctly On the whole i love W7, especially the enchanded desktop and that it is usable on 1gb ram However I really struggle with the search function, as a power user I find it a mess I dont doubt its great for new users and mac usersmy home PC has 6 drives and structured folder system, all i need to be able to do is right click on a drive or a folder and search from that point onwards. I dont need random large pics of what ever apearing from random locations around my computer, I am happy with detailed view.
Everything has been great for me so far. However, I don't have too much experience with the Dell Studio XPS Desktop 8000 Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1200 TV Tuner UAC. It also remembers my choices for programs which I allow access.
So why have two UACs on, y'know? Anyway, there are a couple of things that annoy me here and there that are different from windows XP speaking of which, Windows 7 bit pretty much replaced XP for me. I just use XP for the obscure game that won't run on 7. However, one thing I'd like to see changes is the double-clicking to expand a directory in the navigation pane.
I know this was present in Vista as well, but it annoys me constantly. I'd like to have the same thing in XP where you just single click a directory to expand it in the nav pane.
Perhaps as an option? It would also be nice if we could rearrange the order of Categories in the nav pain for ourselves.
